Trailer hire: Terms and Conditions 

When you hire a trailer from FS Trailers you automatically agree to the following terms and condtions. 
All Hire trailers must be collected / Returned by 5pm at the latest. 
Proof of address is required for EVERY hire. This can be in the form of a recent utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months. 
We do NOT accept drivers license as proof of address. 
All trailer hires are subject to a £100 deposit, this is to be paid upon collection. 
Payment 
 
Payment for hire can be made by either cash, credit or debit card. Upon collection of the will require a £100 deposit, this can be paid card or cash, We reserve the right to debit the cost of any loss or damages to the trailer whilst on hire up to the full replacement cost of the trailer. 
Reservation deposits are non-refundable. A deposit is payable by the Hirer before the time of collection. The Hirer is required to pay the rental charge in full, prior to collection. Long term hires must be paid monthly, on or before the commencement of the following months hire period. Failure to do this will incur a late payment charge.

Trailer Security, Safety 
 
The Hirer agrees to minimise the risk of damage to or loss of the trailer at all times by employing the most practical and diligent methods of security at all times during the hire period. The Hirer is responsible for the replacement costs to any item lost or damaged during the hire period. The Hirer as a condition precedent to liability agrees that any security devices provided by the owner will be fitted when the trailer is not in use. If a wheel clamp is provided the Hirer must fit it to a rear wheel. The Hirer must be legally able to tow the trailer in accordance with the UK licensing laws. 
 
Tow Vehicle Suitability & Trailer Use 
 
The Hirer must ensure that the tow vehicle is suitable to tow the expected weight of a fully loaded trailer. The tow vehicle must be fitted with an EC type approved tow-bar, 50mm ball and a standard 12 volt 7 or 13 pin electrical connection socket. The Hirer agrees to load the trailer within the manufacturer’s limits and to transport the trailer within the UK highway regulations. The Hirer shall not make any repairs or adjustments without permission and advice from the Owner. It is the Hirer’s responsibility to ensure that the Trailer is fitted with a legal number plate that matches the tow vehicle. This MUST be fitted before the Trailer leaves the Owner’s premises. Trailers are not to be written on or have items stuck to them. The Owner reserves the right to charge any costs incurred removing any writing or stickers. 
 
Trailer Inspection and Return 
 
Prior to the Hirer accepting the trailer, a visual inspection should be carried out by the Hirer. Any marks or damages should be pointed out to the Owner and noted on this hire agreement. Any damages that are not noted prior to the trailer being accepted will be charged to the Hirer. 
A similar inspection shall be carried out upon return of the trailer by the owner and any damage will be recorded and charged for. The Hirer shall return the trailer at the agreed time and location. Any change must be agreed in advance with the Owner. In the event of a change to schedule instigated by the Hirer, the Owner reserves the right to make a reasonable surcharge if this causes a disruption. The Hirer shall return the trailer in the same clean condition. The Owner reserves the right to make a surcharge of £30.00+vat if the trailer is not clean both externally and internally to a reasonable standard. Any accessories that are loaned with the trailer should be returned in the way in which they were loaned (i.e. cargo straps rolled up and stored) a £30.00+vat restocking fee may be charged if this is not done. 
 
Weekend Hire. 
 
All weekend trailer hires are to be collected between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on a Friday and returned at 8:30am on a Monday. 
Collecting a trailer before this will incur additional hire fees. Returning a trailer after this will incur our late return fees. 
This is the case for all hires unless agreed with FS Trailers beforehand. 
 
Use of trailer abroad and within the UK. 
 
Trailers are permitted to be used abroad, the owner askes that they have sufficient breakdown cover that includes recovering the trailer back to the owner’s premises. It is NOT FS Trailers responsibility to recover trailer within the UK or abroad, the hirer is liable for ALL costs involved in recovering the trailer back to the owner’s premises. 
 
Insurance & Liability. 
 
FS Trailers is not liable for any damages caused to the trailer whilst out on hire. Any and all damage caused to the trailer will have to be paid for in full be the hirer upon return of the trailer. 
FS Trailers is not liable for any damage, injury or death caused by the trailer when on hire. Safe connection of the trailer to the towing vehicle is the responsibility of the hirer, FS Trailers will not take responsibility for any accidents, damage or death caused by improper hitching of the trailer. 
It is the hirers responsibility to make sure the trailer is suitable for what they intend to use it for. Any damage caused to the hirers possessions due to the trailer is not the responsibility of FS Trailers. 
Once the trailer has been hired by the hirer they are souly responsible for any damage caused to their own possessions, FS Trailers will not reimburse any funds for damaged items or vehicles, unless agreed to by FS Trailers. 
The trailer is NOT covered by insurance under FS Trailers, the hirer is responsible for the insurance of the trailer, any damage to the trailer MUST be paid upon return of the hire trailer, if the trailer is written off or stolen the hirer will be liable for the cost of replacing the trailer for a new like for like make and model. 
 
Loading, Unloading and securing loads. 
 
It is the hirers responsibility to ensure they load, unload and secure loads correctly. FS Trailers will not be hold responsible for any damage, injury, or death caused by improper loading, unloading or unsecure loads. The hirer must secure all loads correctly and in a safe manor at all times. 
 
Late return fees. 
 
The hirer is responsible for returning the trailer at the agreed time set upon collection of the trailer. If the trailer is not returned when agreed the following charges may be applied. 
Cost of any additional days hire outstanding. Plus, a £100.00+vat late return fee. If the late return of the trailer causes FS Trailers to lose another hire that was already booked the hirer will also be required to pay for the hire that the owner has missed out on. 
 
 
General 
 
The trailer remains the property of the Owner at all times during the period of hire. 
The Owner shall not be liable for any injuries caused to The Hirer, any third parties or to any animals/goods/items transported arising out of the use of the trailer during the hire period. 
The Owner shall not be liable for any consequential losses arising out of the use of the trailer. The trailer shall not be used for any application other than its intended purpose. 
The trailer shall not be transported outside of the UK mainland, unless permission has been granted by the owner. 
The Owner reserves the right to recall the trailer at any time during the hire period if there is evidence that the Hirer is in breach of these conditions, abusing the hire facility or if the trailer is in a situation of significant risk of loss, damage or theft. 
The Hirer shall be liable for any costs incurred by the Owner. 
The Hirer understands that in the event of such termination or repossession, he/she has no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or deposit. 
We will use all reasonable endeavours to have the trailer available for collection on the date agreed but we shall not incur any liability whatsoever in the event of any delay arising from matters beyond our reasonable control. 
It is the hirers sole responsibility to ensure the trailer is correctly hitched to the tow vehicle, FS Trailers is not responsible for any ingury, damage or death caused by the hire trailer coming uncoupled. 
FS Trailers Ltd is not responsible for loss of number plates, and cannot be held accountable if the hirer is pulled over/ fined for lack of a number plate or an improper number plate fitted to the trailer.
